82 Camaro. What am i getting myself into?

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/cto/18670659...

I want it to be a cool car to drive around as a daily driver. Is this a huge project or how bad would you judge it to be? I can do some work by myself. I would want to change the hood on this one.

How expensive is this generation of camaro in this condition to own nowadays?

i have my third gen and i absolutely love it.. besides wen it rains or snows.. then im tempted to do donuts everywhere.. but anyways for $1k if it runs and has no major rust or anything.. rust is bad, real bad.. but i bought mine for $3k and it had the 305 tbi and it was great for my first car.. im currently doing a full built 350 for it now though.. i love the thing tho.. i love it enough my last gf said me or the car and i said dueces.. haha.. no but seriously buy it.. its so easy to find bolt on mods or help with anything for that car.. the site im on i say a good 80% of my free time is thirdgen.org .. the site is amazing..

id buy it if there was no major problem with it.. he SAYS it runs good.. im wondering y so cheap though.. but ya have fun and dnt drive it stupid.. i rear ended a truck 2 days after i got mine.. paint is expensive..

The picture on craigslist is a Berlinetta Camaro, and not a Z/28. This model was a more of a sports/luxury model rather than a muscle car. If the body is straight and solid & the wiring not hacked up, it's probably an ok buy for a $1000. You might want to run the vin number to see if it has the original motor & transmission, or if it has been swapped out in the past. I have a book that decodes all camaro vin numbers from 67-93, send me an email and I can decode the info for you if interested.

Depends on what needs to be repaired. Check the floors, firewall, wheel wells for rust. This will be the biggest expensive of all; getting the body squared away. If the body is solid, and the wiring hasn't been hacked to all hell, and as you say you can do the work, I think you can make a good project out of it.

Bad GM construction quality, its a cheap car to fix up plenty of them in junkyards.
