Windows 7 upgrade question?
So I am getting a new laptop tomorrow preloaded with Windows 7 home premium. What I want to know is, is it ok to use the CD it comes with to upgrade my old Desktop from Vista to 7? If not that's ok, just want to know.

Sure, the CD's are only used to restore to factory defaults. They usually aren't just an OS put on a CD. But you can download uTorrent or any other BitTorrent client and download a Windows 7 system. Be sure to check for viruses and other malware. It is illegal so I wouldn't do it. Just giving the heads up. I, personally, would just buy the OS because it is such a great operating system.

Gron is right, that CD only works for the laptop you bought and you can use it to reinstall Windows in case you get a really bad virus or if Windows becomes corrupted (unlikely but it happens). Your old desktop is fine with Vista since Win7 and Vista are essentially the same! Just make sure you install a good anti-virus like AVG (they have a free version that works great)

You are forbidden to do that because even though you paid big price for the MS software you still got a "deal" in Microsoft terms and you got actually an OEM version that needs to be used ONLY with your computer.

Your records/information is in simple terms no longer deleted. besides the undeniable fact that, you may desire to constantly carry out a backup in simple terms in case something is going incorrect. The contents of the stressful stress are actually not erased except you carry out a sparkling set up and go with to format your stress in the process the installation.

No. doesn't work like that. that cd is a recovery to fix your computer not to upgrade it.
