Its always good to pick up a tourist guide from the counter at Pasar Seni or Central Market in the city. You can ask the reception for some guide for cheap hotels or budget hotels. You can also take the Hop-in-Hop-out city tour coach which brings you to the main sights in the city and its cheap. Its good to have a local male companion if you go out at night and travel light. Snatch thefts is still a concern in the city. Otherwise its a safe city.
