What would be a good ground cover for a flower bed in North Central Florida?

I have a large flower bed with knock out roses and a few trees There are open areas that have seasonal colors planted, but Iam constantly fighting with weeds and grass in those areas of the flower bed.

Is there a type of ground cover I could plant that would cover up the weeds/grass, but not take over the whole bed. ie not destroy the knock out roses?

Sedum, Stonecrop, Armeria, Ajuga and creeping Phlox would all be effective and reliable ground cover plants.

Try a clover, a low-growing one. It will supply N to the other plants and smother weed seeds.
