How much do you value diversity?

Someone asked a little while ago some thing or another and trumpeted the value of diversity.

Would you be willing to prove your devotion to diversity by flying an Air France flight into Dubai while the airport was fogged in knowing the pilot spoke one language and the air traffic controllers spoke another?

Update:

Don't blame me. I'm not the one who used a bad analogy.

Diversity is nice when the diverse people do not threaten your values and cultural heritage.

You are clueless. English is the required language of all commercial pilots worldwide. When an Air France flight comes into Dubai to land, both the pilot and the air traffic controller are speaking English. Where necessary, such as for public safety, a common language is agreed upon.

But most other times diversity brings other viewpoints and cultures into the mix to the benefit of everyone.

International law requires both commercial pilots and tower personnel be able to communicate in English.

I do deeply value diversity -- both cultural and biological. I even value the diverse opinions of people who disagree with me.

The fascist myth that everybody should be just alike for the betterment of a uniform civilization has repeatedly been the cause of terrible wars and has caused human suffering on many levels -- parents who mistreat their offspring, schools that require militaristic uniformity, governments that mistreat their citizens. Most persistently, religions have historically demanded uniformity of belief. Diversity is the perfectly natural antidote for tyrannical and toxic uniformity.

I think you are confused about the whole idea of diversity. Valuing diversity is about embracing the differences of individuals; colour, race, sexual preference, culture, religion, political views, social economics and lifestyle to name but a few examples!!! it's about respecting people's differences and the value these differences bring to communities.

Your example would not show your 'devotion to diversity', rather a health and safety concern and a question mark over the airline industry if your scenario was to be believed!!!

Communication is important, especially at 35,000ft!!!

    Embrace diversity today!!!

Well, it depends on what I`m flying on. A fully loaded Tupolev Tu-95 "Bear" would be fun to fly over an airport... everybody in the control tower is guaranteed to have at least a mild heart attack. Either that or a Tie Fighter, I mean who needs radio comms when you`ve got LAZERS?

Diversity in politically correct speak actually means uniformity. The EU and coming new world order one government want to destroy individual nations and their cultures and traditions by mass immigration, and this they call diversity. Diversity is great when it means all the countries of the world have their distinct traditions and cultures within their own borders - the variety in the world is great - something the new world order cultural marxist communitarians want to destroy in bland uniformity

You might be confusing diversity with stupidity. Diversity means variety. Sometimes you listen to rock, sometimes to country, sometimes to blues. That's diversity. Doing something that has limited chance of success and high risk isn't diversity, that's something else.

Your example sucks, no offense. Having a common point of reference, in this case a language, isn't a lack of diversity.

Both in religion and science, I think I would prefer orthodoxy to somebody who had decided to go his own way with his own private Christianity, or his own private physics.

i do no longer understand once I see the grotesque part of selection. yet then now and returned I hate the persons from the same custom or race because of fact their nasty physique of thoughts. i surely care with regard to the character and their habit than basically selection or race.
