Do you believe the typical fire-breathing Dragon ever existed?
Could one such creature be lurking in the shadows of some long forgotten cave just waiting for us to discover it? Since there is always a kernel of truth in at least one Faerie Tale, couldn't there be a spot of truth to the Faerie Tales about Dragons?

I do not believe that such creatures exist in the world we know of. Perhaps such creatures exist on a parallel plane of existence and perhaps that plane overlapped or crossed with ours and somehow became separate again. It's all pure speculation. It is highly unlikely that such large creatures could go undiscovered for so long and survive.
Fire breathers possible? Why not. If they belched methane and had a flint-like body part inside their mouth, they could possibly belch fire the same way a ciggarette lighter does or like when a college dude lights his friend's butt on fire when he passes gas.

No
Partly because in almost all the original myths these beasts came from they didn't actually spit fire but rather spat "venom" or acid and partly because if an animal of the size and numbers often described had indeed existed right up until the late middle ages (as some tales say) we'd probably have found hard evidence of them by sheer accident by now never mind all the determined efforts made thus far to confirm many of the myths in question.
The other factor to consider is that dragons in mythology are often a metaphoric plot device used to describe bad human behavior such as greed (for example the dragon Fafnir in the Volsungsaga was a dwarf who's greed metamorphosed him into a dragon), gluttony, directionless violence and tyranny.

The Bible isn't absolutely concerning flying fiery serpents as dragons, as dragons are not from now on even serpents. What the Bible is pointing out interior the first source (Numbers) replaced into after the Israelites committed a sin G-d despatched serpents that bit and harmed the Israelites like fireplace. Flying in basic terms skill quick interior the 2d source of Isaiah and fiery skill risky and venomous. Sorry about that, no dragons.

Kernel of truth- how about something like this: there is a common oral tradition across much of europe that includes giant serpents/worms/dragons which may point to racial memory of actual large reptiles (probably predating man's migration from north Africa), but may just as likely be moralistic story devices. Many of these were supposed to be venomous, but none breathed fire.
There are, in fact, giant lizards that exist in the present day that carry bacteria in their mouths which is so powerful (poisonous) that it causes painful agonizing "fiery" death in a few minutes from the slightest scratch touched by the lizard's saliva.
Is that truthy enough for you?
