Gifts aren't usually exchanged at a baptism. Perhaps a corsage would be nice. Just about any age-appropriate book from an LDS bookstore would do, as would an LDS video or CTR ring. There is also a wide range of music available at Mormon bookstores, although you would have to know someone's taste before giving music as a gift. It isn't religious in any way, but the Fablehaven series is a great read, was written by a church member and can be found at any LDS bookstore. It has been on the New York Times bestseller list for young adults. The only danger is she may already have it.

As Rosskopf said, we don't usually exchange gifts because baptism brings the greatest gift we will ever receive. Sometimes Grandparents or parents might give a set of scriptures or a picture of the Savior. If you do give a gift, keep it very simple and not something materialistic. I would suggest that a card and maybe a flower would be appropriate. If you want something more, then a journal would be very nice. The girl begin baptized could write down her thoughts and feelings. A small photograph album in which to put pictures of her baptism day might be nice too.

The most appropriate gift you can give is simply to attend the baptism. Your friend might reassure you that a material gift is not expected, or else give you some good suggestions if you really do wish to give something.

that's sweet. you could try deseretbook.com for ideas. some parents give their kids scriptures on that day so maybe some scripture markers or scripture case etc., or a subscription to the friend magazine.....I had a friend who gave one of my kids a 'prayer rock'. they placed it on their pillow in the morning to remind them to say their prayer @night, and then on the floor so they remembered in the morning too.......
it's nice of you to be so supportive.
