    3(-2x + 3y = 8)

    2(3x - y = -5)

    -6x + 9y = 24

    6x - 2y = -10

    7y = -14

    y= -2

    x = -1

    Multiply the bottom equation by 3; add.

    -2x + 3y = 8

    9x - 3y = -15

    7 x= -7

    x = -1

    -2*-1 + 3y = 8

    3y + 2 = 8

    3y = 6

    y = 2

    (-1,2)

    Multiply the bottom equation by 3:

    -2x + 3y = 8

    9x-3y=-15

    Add the terms:

    7x=-7

    x=-1

    Plug in into the second equation:

    3*-1-y=-5

    -3-y=-5

    -y=-5+3

    -y=-2

    y=2

    ANSWER: x=-1, y=2

    -2x + 3y = 8

    3x - y = -5

    Multiply second line by 3

    9x - 3y = -15

    Add to first line:

    7x = -7

    x = -1

    Plug into any expression:

    (3)(-1) - y = -5

    -3 - y = -5

    -y = -2

    y = 2
