is osteoporosis hereditary?
My mother has osteoporosis, and I`m worried that I may get it later on in life. I`m 18 now, and take vitamins on a regular basis, eat a well balanced diet, and drink plenty of milk. Am I taking the proper precautions in order to not get osteoporosis? Is it even hereditary and could I be at risk at getting it, despite my vitamin intake?

sounds like your doing a good job to take care of yourself that disease certainly has hereditary factors but if you take care of yourself and check with your doctor you should be able to reduce your risk. theres still a chance you could get it since you have a family history of the disease but having bone density scans and visiting your doctor can help you reduce those risks.
