Which processor is faster: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo vs. 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 (Macbook Pro comparison)?
I'm trying to decide which Macbook Pro model to buy - the $1500 13-inch model (Intel Core 2 Duo) or the $1800 15-inch model (2.4GHz Intel Core i5). Would the 15-inch notebook be noticeably faster / better performing than the 13-inch notebook?
If not, how about the $2000 15-inch model (2.53GHz Intel Core i5 processor)?
This notebook is for college - so I'll be web browsing, writing papers, etc. I'm not a gamer and I don't plan on taking any photography / video / design courses, but I may take a few programming classes.
DEFINITELY watching / streaming HD videos.

The Core i5 processor in the entry-level 15" MacBook Pro model is significantly faster than the Core 2 Duo in the 13" MacBook Pro models. However, your needs -- web browsing and writing papers -- are basic and a 13" model would work well.
It's your decision whether or not the larger display and extra performance is worth the extra money to you but for performance, specifically, this comparison can be useful:

Hope this helps!

Depends on what you are doing. Basic web browsing, the core 2 duo is faster. For photoshop and video editing, the i5 is faster.
