Respect is something that you want to give , so people can connect with you and so you can create new friendships and receive respect back .
A way to respect people is to find out something that happened to them , and if you can relate to it , than you show respect by either comforting them , talking about the situation , not making fun of / tormenting them with silly or uncomfortable jokes .
Another way to respect is when someone is starting trouble with you , you be the bigger person and walk away .
Respect is when everyone is ganging up on someone and you stay out of it because you have respect for that person .
Or you can just say : " Ok man , i got alot of respect for you "
That one saying can brighten up anyone's mood , day , or action ( i.e if they did something stupid or embarrassing ) .
So i hope all of this helped and changes your perspective on what " respect " is . Because this is my interpretation .

Respect should be taught at an early age. It's part of socialising a child. Respect your elders, respect other people's property and so on. Do people respect you? Have you earned respect from others? Respect yourself firstly, then start looking at the people around you and consider if they have the attributes to earn your respect. Think about what things you can respect, what things you want to be able to respect and then think about how you show respect. Taking care of the needs of others, especially the elderly is a way of showing respect. Listening to your parents and doing as they ask is a way of showing respect. Paying attention when someone is speaking is a show of respect. There are so many big and small ways to show respect. Consider these for yourself and find out what works for you and those you care about. Good luck.

Well, Respect is such a big word!!!!You can't find an actual meaning for it, instead you can show it by not to do anything that people hate! also, respect others also mean to give your manner to someone! In other word, Just not try be obnoxious! and always be nice with people! by doing that you gave others respect and at the same time you gain respect from people!

i started to respect people alot more when I had my first baby. I loved her soo much and wanted the best for her, while she was a baby and even when's she's old and gray headed. i started picturing everyone I met as 'someone's baby once' and nowI think about treating them like i'de want someone to treat 'my baby' even if they are grown.

respect begins when you follow the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Source(s): in those instances where you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything... just move along. - Anonymous1 decade ago
it means simply: treat people like you want to be treated. if you like being treated kindly, nicely, with compassion and friendliness... that is respect.. treat people like that and they will almost always treat you like that.
