I am ready for a new chiminea. Which is best quality? Pottery, cast iron, aluminum?
I live in southeast Louisiana where the winters are usually moderate/mild with real cold every once in a while (hardly ever). Anyway, It will be used mostly for me to sit in the evenings and will sit right off of my covered patio in a pebble covered area on large square stepping stones. I need one to burn mostly fireplace logs in, with no cooking necessary. I need one that will not need to be stored in the summer. Which would be less likely to crack?

Quality has nothing to do with it. There's good and bad qualities in everything
Usage and storage will determine which is most appropriate for you.
When do you want to use it, where do you plan to store it, what's the climate? Answer these questions, then go shopping for the one that suits you.

cast iron will hold up the longest.... and since you won't have to move and store it, I'd go for that one.....of course the upkeep to stop rust is important there....

go for a cast iron one, they look good as they age and need no weather protection
