What career should I pursue?

I'm soon to be entering my Senior year of high school and I've yet to hammer out which career I should pursue or what I should major in once in college.

A little about myself:

I'm a 17 year old male. I work part time at Safeway and I've been promoted there. I also work onion harvest with my dad during the summer. I consider myself a very hard worker and my employers do as well. Ever since I was a toddler I've worked at the local Farmer's Market. My brother and dad have been major role models in my life, I've taken from example pretty much. I consider myself fairly educated, 3.6 GPA. I take advanced courses; AP English and Honors Math.

My personal time is usually spent with friends, jogging, video games, or on the internet learning. I like to party and have a good time. I try to play as hard as I work haha. I'm very social, I have a close inter-circle of friends followed by a broad range of associates.

I have a wide range of interest. Politics and history definitely ranks near the top. I love reading about new technology. Obviously I have a passion for agriculture since I've been raised around it. I have many other interest but I'd say those are the major ones.

The reason I ask this question is because I've been researching career options recently. As I said, I have a deep interest in politics but it doesn't sound like a very stable career path. I'm really family orientated and I'd like to live comfortably, both of which are kind of difficult to maintain with such a career (or so I've been told). I'd like to branch out and not follow in my brother's footsteps and become a farmer, although I have nothing against farming. I love technology but I can't see myself in that career.

I see myself as a leader and I see myself helping others. I'm still young but I feel I have very good ideas I would like to pitch forth to the public that could better our society. My friends hear most of these ideas because I'm very vocal with them and I feel very passionate about them. I guess this is why I see myself involved in politics and social affairs. I can't stand the current form of government, but that's another 5 paragraphs right there haha. On the political spectrum, I'd say Ron Paul has greatly influenced me.

Thank you for reading and I appreciate all the answers. I'm open to hear from anybody on this.

Update:

Thanks Joe, I'll look into that. I do have a strong interest with computers and technology of the sort. That career field definitely sounds promising considering how relevant computers are in our society. Thanks again

You really need to take a look at what interests you. While in high school I changed career choices 3 times only to change once more in college and decided the computer field is where I'll call home. You mention that you like spending time on the internet learning. Once choice may be to test out the Internet marketing world. Here's some information about a search engine marketing specialist career from the University of San Francisco.

Whatever you decide make sure the field interests you because after a days work you don't want to feel like you've been ran over by a train!
