Going to Dubai, is it safe?

I am planning a trip to Dubai and was wondering if it is safe for an American to travel over there yet. I know we are pretty unwelcome everywhere so should I pretend that I am Canadian or should I not go at all? It looks like a beautiful city and I would very much like to visit...

Thanks.

Why are Americans are so paranoid about saftey in the UAE? Did you ever hear about any terror attacts in the UAE or carried out by UAE nationals? Did you ever hear about any kidnapping of tourists, pirates, etc? Doubt it.

The most dangerous thing in the UAE is crossing the streets unless there is a traffic light and that's it:))

@URL: your answer is untrue and plain stupid. If you ever were able to afford a trip to the UAE, you would know better.

Please be welcome to the UAE and experience some Arab hospitality, never ending sunshine, outstanding landmarks, international cusine, endless shopping opportunities, etc., etc.

Just dress decent (just normal) and show some respect to a Muslim society.

I met so many Americans having such a wrong picture of the UAE and they got amazed when they got here. The Middle East is much more than just Israel and Iraq:))

    Welcome!

When your a tourist in the UAE, everyones very welcoming to pretty much every nationality! People are friendly enough so if you get lost etc. and wanna ask for directions. Its SO safe here compared to other countries&the region, they've got a pretty good hand on things despite the odd incident. Just common sense though as always though its amazing the amount of times I could have got things stolen but it just didnt happen e.g. one of my mates lost her phone in a cab, reported it & the guy had turned it in, not even taken it to make some cash. A few rules of the area though- dont get drunk, if your going to drink have a couple in a bar & get a taxi [even 1% of alcohol can get you arrested] or do so in the hotel, there may be a couple anti-americans so if they make snide remarks walk away [you never know who they're related to & out here its about contacts]

You'll love your visit if you go around November-March time is perfect weather season

LMAO WOW. in basic terms because that is interior the middle east it does no longer mean that is not any longer threat-free. Dubai in order that occurs to be crammed with travelers and a really impressive and rich position. the newest undertaking no longer a risk replaced into filmed there...also keep in concepts the middle East guidelines are very strict, in case you get stuck stealing they could probable shrink off your palms as punishment. So certain Dubai is particularly threat-free, probable even safer than the position you stay now.

The UAE is not safe. You can be put in prison for swearing and eating outside in public, unlike in our western countries. You can be put in prison for being drunk. I mean you get put in there for a long time. In my country they throw you out of the drunk tank in the morning! Don't even go there man!

. I would never live in the UAE. Backward people.
