I am thinking about becoming a dental hygienist, can you help?
What are the ups and downs? Can I get a job? What do I need to know? Anything you want to tell me about it, feel free

The next time you go to see your dental hygienist ask them if you could do an informational interview with them. Possibly take them out for a lunch somewhere close to the office. You should have a list of question you want to ask them. If you don't have the money, what you could do is to call and talk with your hygenist and ask her/him if they would mind answering some questions regarding that career. You could mail them a list of questions and they could answer them and mail it back to you in the self-addressed envelope that you provide them. In the dentist's office they are normally on a tight schedule and while they are working on your teeth it would be too difficult for you to talk. Informational interviews are great. While doing an informational interview with someone, they became so impressed with my questions that they said that if they had an opening, they would have hired me. I was shocked. Two great questions to ask them are:
1) If you could pick one thing that you least liked about being a dental hygienist what would it be?
2) If you could pick one thing that you liked the most about being a dental hygienist what would it be?
