When listing a book in a Bibliography, how should the Author and Title be set out?

You wouldn't write:

Plants and Animals by Jarryd Hayne

would you. So what would you write?

Thanks!

There are many different formats depending upon what style is used. APA and MLA are the most common. Purdue University has a great reference guide online showing how to list many different source types in several styles. Capitals and punctuation such as periods and parenthesis are important. Ask your teacher what the preferred style is for your class.

For MLA generally books would be

Lastname, Firstname. Title of Book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.

For APA generally books would be

Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle (edition if not the first.). Location: Publisher.

Hayne, Jarryd. Plants and Animals. Last name first is the usual.
