What are some good things to incorporate into our church's upcoming Oktoberfest celebration?
Our church wants to provide a Christian alternative to the debauchery of regular Oktoberfest celebrations, so we are staging our own event. Instead of beer, we will be serving lemonade, and we are certainly steering clear of any sausage, because they look like something naughty. The sisters of the church will provide a definitive Christian dish: tuna noodle casserole with barbecued potato chips on top.
Our entertainment will be provided by the Christian Ozzy Osbourne cover band, Blessed Sabbath. They are very entertaining, with their Christian versions of rock classics, such as their take on "Iron Man", redone as "Holy Man." Due to the close proximity of Halloween, we will have booths set up where people can turn in their costumes and sign pledges not to partake in this holiday that glorifies Satan. We are calling our event "Christoberfest."
We have a lot of good ideas, you see, but we need more. What would be some good things to incorporate?

Honey don't get married ... sorry but it won't work ... you guys can't stay " neutral " forever ... it's impossible ... you say you respect his beliefs and perhaps he respects yours but in the end whom will have the final authority ? You or him ? This will be a disaster You will try to teach evolution and he creation ( but if he doesn't in creation then he's not a catholic ... oh wait sorry , he can do that but not be a true Christian ) and many other aspects I have heard nothing but sadness and confusion from these marriages ... the problem is that you won't even accept his beliefs nor will he accept your beliefs ... if you can't even do this now in a wedding , one of the most important aspects ... in a marriage ceremonial ... then what makes you think that you guys will make it ? Love ? I doubt that in this case ( no offense meant ) If you're a pagan marry a pagan , if you're an atheist/agnostic marry an atheist/agnostic , if you're a theist marry a theist , if you're a christian marry a christian , if you're a muslim marry a muslim , if you're a jew marry a jew , if you're a new ager marry a new ager , if you're hindu marry a hindu , if you're a deist marry a deist , if you're a catholic marry a catholic ... this may sound narrow minded but it's for the best , people say that perhaps this will bring harmony and love , unite people ... I disagree for the most part ( you must understand that in harmony or unity there must only be one belief and not just tolerating but accepting as well ... otherwise it will erupt into conflict ... madness ... one of you will have to surrender your stance or beliefs to please the other or switch off or something of the sort ... two opposite beliefs will never work together nor will somewhat similar yet different , they have to be pratically exact or exact but even exact ones , exact marriages beliefs can fail , it's true but they have more probability to endure , work and flourish then these inter faith marriages ) It's possible and okay to have friendships and family members ( depending on the situation ) whom have a different faith then yours and still respect and love them ( and still have your beliefs and faith ) ... I believe that it's possible in that ... good ... and advisable ... but not in marriage And I agree with By Faith ... you must understand how important marriage is and what it means in a Christian sense Type " Christian Marriage - What Does the Bible Say About Marriage ? " , " Christian shouldn't date Non Christians " , " Gap Theory " and " False Prosperity Gospel " Read " What's So Great About Christianity " by Dinesh D. Souza , " Mere Christianity " , " The Problem of Pain " , " The Screwtape Letters " all from C.S. Lewis , the " The Battle for Truth " by David A. Noebel , " 3:16 " by Max Lucado and " The Complete Jewish Bible " Translation by David H. Stern to better understand the Christian mindset ( if you really want to work , though I doubt that it will work as I said ... it won't work though this may help you understand him )

Instead of "Trick or treat", you should teach the children to say "Sin or righteousness."
Have people dress up as bible characters instead of as devilishly evil goblins and witches. Some suggestions:
Adam and Eve (Eden attire)
Queen Jezebel (I heard she wore some really great outfits)
Bathsheba (rooftop bathing attire)
King David (Bathsheba-visiting attire, or else linen tunic worn for dancing)
Jesus (crucifixion outfit)
Whore of Babylon from the Book of Revelation
there are plenty of other great bibilcal characters one might dress up as, if one only applies a little effort into biblical research.

If there's neither Bier nor Bratwurst, it's not Oktoberfest.
I thought you were serious until you got to the part about avoiding sausages "because they look like something naughty".

Hahah...this sounds like "Hallelujah Night" that Christians do to entertain kids on Halloween! So funny...and so ridiculous.

You could also have kiddy rides on dinosaurs so kids begin to grasp the concept of man and dinosaur co-existing...

Lusty wenches with jugs and beer. To quench the thirsty.

You could have a bonfire and throw plastic men, women, and children into it as a representation of atheists going to hell
