Tower Speaker placement help?
Hey guys, I am planning to buy PSB towers
http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/Image-Series/I...
But the problem is that I can place these above the ground on a hard wooden unit as I don't have place on my floor.... As a result the thing will be 2 1/2-3 feet above the ground, so would that severely affect the sound??
I know that usually the tweeter should be at ear height, but frankly I have 2 towers at home currently and the are placed near the ceiling and I can't really complain about the sound as the bass is huge so this should also be good right???
Just looking for some suggestion.. I ain't no audiophile and the previous tower I have were crap Aiwa ones powered by a 45 Watt system and now I have a Yamaha RXV 2065 (130 Watt per channel) and am planning to buy these speakers, so it's obviously going to be a huge quality jump... But just looking for some opinion from ya'll.

Placing the speaker higher would not really affect the sound. It is ideal to have them placed at ear level, but then it is not an ideal world. Let your own ears be the judge. Tweeters do have an angle in which the sound wave will travel. You can also tilt the speaker some if need be. My side and rear speakers are place 42" off the ground and not at ear level. Hope this will help you out.

I suppose if you could get them up just a little higher you could put them upside down and still have the tweeter at ear level. That would probably work pretty well. Certainly better than right side up with the tweeter almost seven feet up.
