Hi guys, I am planning to buy a 5.1 set up for my house.. I already have a Yamaha Amplifier and am buying PSB range of speakers. But the problem here is I have nearly exhausted my budget of 2500$ (in fact it's gone over the initial estimate), so I was thinking on cutting some component from the 5.1 list...

Now the easiest option I thought was to cut down the rear 2 surround speakers which helps me somewhat land near the initial budget... So my question to you is how important are the rear 2 speakers? I heard that they only fire for about 15% of the total listning time in movies so would lose much if I set the front 2 and center correctly right?

So what do you think... How much will my sacrifice on the rear speakers affect the sound quality... The prime use will be to listen to music and gaming...

Oh and I already have 2 old rear speakers lying around from my previous set up (mind you they are kind a crap), should I just use those instead as a temporary solution? I have heard people saying not to do that since it could mismatch, but I doubt the impact would be that substantial could it?

But the problem is that I can place these above the ground on a hard wooden unit as I don't have place on my floor.... As a result the thing will be 2 1/2-3 feet above the ground, so would that severely affect the sound??

I know that usually the tweeter should be at ear height, but frankly I have 2 towers at home currently and the are placed near the ceiling and I can't really complain about the sound as the bass is huge so this should also be good right???

Just looking for some suggestion.. I ain't no audiophile and the previous tower I have were crap Aiwa ones powered by a 45 Watt system and now I have a Yamaha RXV 2065 (130 Watt per channel) and am planning to buy these speakers, so it's obviously going to be a huge quality jump... But just looking for some opinion from ya'll.

Now I am fairly new to this and don't know much. I am willing to invest in something worthwhile and so am looking for something good. My father is a big Bose fan and we are also willing to purchase a Bose Acoustimass 15 for 900£...

But reading a few user reviews, not many are supporting the high price tag, so I thought to branch out and check out a few more brands which give better sound for the same price or less.... I know Harmon Kardon and JBL are great brands as well, so would like to know your view..

So can someone suggest me a good 5.1 speaker set or should I go with the Bose AM15? Links Appreciated.

I am visiting UK next month and I wish to buy a 3D LED TV from there. Currently, the Samsung latest LED TV has really pulled my attention.

It's quiet affordable at under 1000£ and falls into my budget, so is Samsung a good brand?

I own a Sony Bravia 32" LCD in my other room and a Hitachi Plasma in the Living room and both work great, but I really need a replacement since the Hitachi is 5 years old.

So can you recommend me any better TV ATM in the same price??? It should be 40" and should have 3D (have a PS3 and am awaiting the 3D update). I don't think Sony has launched 3DTVs as of now, but knowing Sony, their price tag will always be nearly 1.5 times that of Samsung.

So what do you recommend? Are Samsung TVs great or should I wait more to see what other brands have to show.

I keep on getting the 'the connection timed out' when I try to sign in my PSN. The web browser works well so there is nothing broken in my PS3 and even my connection is working.So that leaves only one possibility and that is there is some problem with the PSN.

I was able to access it a few days ago but now, it's showing me errors

Is there any solution to this problem or should I just wait for Sony to solve it.

Please Help me out here guys.Is somebody else suffering from the same problem?

P.S.:While typing this, I was able to sign in but after 2 min, it says the connection timed out wtf!!!

well, I just downloaded the PS3 HOME and everything works fine, but the problem is that when I go to Central Park, it asks me to download it(20.5MB).When I accept it, I get an error(D4512) and says that the connection to the server was lost.But, every thing else is just fine.I get on to PSN without any issue.Is this a problem with my connection or it's a problem on SONY's behalf?

I am using a NETGEAR router if that helps(I am using wifi).

The above link says killzone 2 has better graphics than Crysis(hahaha take that 360 fanboys).Now, judging that no game on the 360 even comes close to that of Crysis(in terms of graphics), it means that the PS3 hast the ultimate graphics(on console).So the future does hold good for the PS3 doesn't it?People are predicting God Of War 3 to have even greater graphics than killzone2 so does that mean that this year the PS3 will surpass 360 in graphical capability?Also, what does 360 have in their camp to tackle such massive titles being released on the Ps3 and please guys dont say HALO as a strategy HALO is a joke.

I am going to buy a PS3 and I wanted to know what is the minimum speed required to play games on it without considerable lag.I have a wifi connection and I ran a test on Cnet where it showed my speed to be 250KBPS but I get a downloading speed of only 30-35KBPS.Is this sufficient for playing games online on a PS3.Also, I have noticed that my PC connected to net via ethernet is a little faster than my wifi,So should I use an ethernet connection.Please answer.

I have a MacBook Air(1st gen) and just today I updated my itunes to 8.0.2.Though the updating went on smoothly, after the update, my keyboard stopped registering any inputs(letters and numbers along with enter and space bar).Now, i also have windows installed via bootcamp and the keys just work fine on them.Does anyone knows or has encountered such a problem?I have an extended 3 yr waranty so will apple replace it? Also, I cant reinstall OS X as I will lose my Windows partition(also i cant type my password). I have a pc which is running windows XP and has specification of-2.4 GHZ and 2.5GB ram.The problem is that the thing is f**king slow(hard drive 70% full).I have used all kind of softwares on the net.Used an anti virus to check the entire computer.Removed all cached files........But still,there is no difference.I also have a Macbook Air-(1.6GhZ and 2GB RAM) on which I have installed XP using bootcamp and the thing is much much faster than my PC!!!! Is this because Mac's are made differently and hence give good efficiency?I have also checked it from professionals and they have said that macs are always faster than pc but both are running XP and still the macs faster!!Do I need more RAM(as i have heard that after a certain limit RAM increment doesn't cause a difference).Also which affects the computer speed more-GHZ or RAM

I just downloaded the latest firmware 1.1.4 and updated my ipod touch. But, the main problem is that I haven't got the wriggle feature!!! All the other features are present but the wriggle feature is not there. I even checked out the firmware version by going to settings but it still showed 1.1.4. I upgraded solely to get the wriggle feature but it is not there!!!

Please help if you know any means to get it

I am about to buy a new ps3.

1)I was reading this article which said that a HDMI cable is not provided with a ps3. So which cable do i have to purchase as the price range varies from 10$-100$. Does the 100$ one improves the quality? Which one would you suggest?

2)Do i need to make any adjustments in the ps3 to get full HD 1080P resolution(I have a hitachi plasma PD9800TA and the manual says it supports full hd-1080P). So what are the adjustments and how to do them

I just bought a mac air 1.6GHZ one. Now, I also installed windos XP using bootcamp in it. Now, i have this copy of GTA-San Andreas. I play it on my pc. So can i install it on the windos in my macbook air? Will it work on my air? I read the specification required on the site and my air seems to meet the requirements(128MB graphic chip...)

I am planning to buy ipod speakers. I have narrowed my prefrences to 2 speakers

1.Bose(one with the retractable dock)

2.Harman Kardon(see link) speakers.

Both nearly cost the same but i found the HK speakers to have a higher volume range than the Bose(surprisingly).

So please i need suggestion of which one to buy. Also any other advice regarding any other speakers would be appreciated(500-550$)
