Loads of options, as the others have said, but don't waste your time with free sites because they will not show up in a Yahoo or Google search, which will mean no visitors and you'll have wasted your time. Free Webs. Which I think is now just webs.com. That's who I have my website through. It's free until you exceed your bandwidth which took me over a year. Then it costs just a few dollars a month until you need another upgrade at which it's $100 for a full year.

Unfortunately they all require a sign up, but blogger.com is run by google and is 100% free. It works really well and allows for good customization. You can also do wordpress.com which is a little bit more complicated, but allows even more customization, and is also 100% free.
