Belkin Router question...?

So, my school just added a wireless network that guests can connect to, but when they do, they have to "log in", it shows a certain web page after they connect to the Wi-Fi network.

I was wondering if I could do the same thing with my Wi-Fi network at home? If so, tell me step-by-step on how to do it. I have a Belkin router.

Don't ask me why I would want to do this, I do okay?

You wont have exactly what your school has but some of the routers being sold today do have some of this functionality. I don't know your model of router but the Belkin N1 Vision has a "guest" account of sorts that may give you what your asking here. But its about 150 not 50 like most home routers.

The previous answers are right as as your school is probably using a proxy server to rout traffic and monitor activity and I am sure everyone has their own user id and password. This way if your violating any school Internet usage policy they will be able to act accordingly. This Belkin router will not have this functionality but it will allow you to have a separate "guest" account that is outside of your normal security keys/passwords.

    Good luck!

With just a plain jane Belkin router?

    No you cannot

What happens on a system such as you describe is that all network traffic from a particular subnet (in this case the schools wireless) is routed through a server that controls the traffic and monitors it.

The software programs on the server control things like logging in and what the computers can and cannot do.

This is beyond what your home router can do.

Well zac u can not because it is something ur isp would provide u with .if by some means u manage to do it then ur isp may create problems with it. Also plain Belkin router doesnot support this type of features
