Why are plus size models NOT plus size?
I used to watch americas next top model and it always made me laugh and irritated that when there was a plus size model and she was a size 8! Why does the fashion industry not have real plus size models doing the modeling? At least size 12 or 14 is plus sized I'd say. I just think it promotes a negative body image for girls to think size 8 is plus sized.

it doesn't make sense. i am a size 14 and i believe i am on the lower end of being plus size. it hurts my feeling when plus size models are like 8's because it makes me like i am PLUS plus size.
the average women is a size 14, average women and we're talking about PLUS size women so plus size women should be size 20 +

I completely agree! sizes 4-12 are average sized women and 8 is practically a perfect size!! The modeling industry needs to make those size 8's in the normal model section and put the size 16's in the plus sized section!

Around size 12 or 14, but you can't be fat- you need to be shapely and toned. Size 8 is NOT plus size most models are actually a size 8. In most agencies if you are under a size 8 they won't take you because your BMI would be too low.

Size 14 is a plus size model and up.
It creates negative body image for girls when they think the right size is 0.

In the modelling world, that IS plus size.
And I'd consider 16-22 plus size.

because to them a size 0 is attractive and should be maintained so that means if ur "big enough" to be a size 8 then ur plus sized, meaning bigger than average when in reality a size 8 is more of wt most women are and a real plus size would be like a size 16 or something

i definitely think the "plus sized" models are actually the healthy sized, regular models...undoubtably more beautiful.
who would want to look like a pile of bones? today's youth, apparently.

Of course they promote a bad body image. If you had a good body image you wouldn't feel like you had to buy their ridiculously overpriced clothing.
