What happens if someone gets caught flying with a pilots license but not renewed?
Me and my dad wen't flying today and had a crash into the trees.. came out very lucky with with only stitches from the ER but he hasn't had his license renewed or something because of the medical card says his blood pressure is too high and the plane hasn't had it's annual.. the wreck was due to having the flaps on 20 degrees on accident so what do you think is going to happen?

IF this is a true story, two things will happen:
1) Your dad's pilot certificate will be revoked (maybe not permanently) and he may be subject to a civil fine up to $5,000.
2) The insurance company will either not pay the claim or they will subrogate the claim against him, meaning he will be financially liable for all damages and repairs.
Deep manure, in other words.

I fly at an airport that is having a problem with this actually. There is a guy that lost his medical a while ago and kept on flying. Someone found out and the FAA got involved. They ended up revoking his certificate. The pilot continued to fly. At this point the fsdo is unwilling to do anything about it. They said they have no more authority over the matter. They are a regulatory agency, not an enforcement agency. There are laws to deal with this, but without the communication and cooperation with law enforcement nothing is going to happen. If and when everything catches up with this guy, then he will be in a world of hurt.

In the U.S., licenses don't need to be renewed, but they need to be kept current, including a valid medical certification.
Your father most likely risks revocation or suspension of his pilot's license and a fine.
The real problem will be with liability for the aircraft and accident. Insurance isn't going to cover an accident with an (effectively) unlicensed pilot in control, and your father risks being held liable in civil proceedings for the accident, which could get very expensive.
All together, there's a lot of potential trouble brewing for him, but it will probably involve mainly money and a prohibition on flying.

Lets see... No current physical, no annual and stupid in public all at the same time.
Even if he had a current insurance policy, the insurance won't cover the damages because the aircraft is not airworthy (out of annual).
My guess is that you have just experienced your dad's last attempt at piloting an airplane.

Maing the assumption (yeh, I know the results of that) that your tale is valid:
Chances are both of you have used up most of your quota of luck. Now you will face two hostile, agile and mobile opponants, the FAA and your insurance company. May the "force" be with you because nobody else will.

20 degrees of flaps in this post, 10 degrees in your other post. It would help if you'd get your story straight.
Nothing's gonna happen, 'cause it didn't happen.

I think your Dad is going to be broke and possibly go to jail. Just out of curiosity, what Region (of the FAA) did this happen in, since it's pretty easy to find out it you're lying or not.
