new york, new york or luxor for vegas stay?

Ive been getting a lot of mixed reviews from friends and online. Id like to hear more from outside sources. Were looking for a nicer spa suite with great amenities at a good deal. Ive heard great things about the luxor's package deals with all day buffet and tickets to shows etc. but when i looked at actual pictures from guests of the spa suites, they didnt look very nice. My hubby is leaning towards ny ny because hes from there (we live in phx). Ive heard that they have alot of nice little restaurants, roller coaster, and nightclubs within. but i also heard that people had bad experiences room wise. like bed bugs and stained sheets and moldy bathrooms. help! we need to make a decision

I've stayed at both properties several times, mostly when I get a good deal. Here's the pros and cons:

    LUXOR

    * If your hotel deal comes with a package full of extras, be careful -- you might not use many of them. The all-day buffet is not great, and the shows aren't fantastic either (Criss Angel: Believe gets a lot of critical thumbs-downs, Fantasy is a typical topless showgirl revue, Carrot Top is funnier than you might think, and Menopause: The Musical only appeals to an older age group).

    * The actual quality of the rooms depends on where you end up staying. Everyone wants to stay inside the pyramid and ride the angled elevator, but most of those rooms are actually older. If you stay in the tower instead, it's a longer walk from the casino, but rooms tend to be newer. Still, they're nothing special, apart from a few Egyptian-esque decor accents. The spa suites are just OK.

    * Luxor's club LAX is much more popular than any nightspot at NYNY. The CatHouse ultralounge, with its lingerie-clad performers, is also cool. Upstairs, Tacos & Tequila is worth eating at, and you can walk through Mandalay Place mall over to great top-end restaurants at Mandalay Bay, like RM Seafood.

    NEW YORK-NEW YORK

    * The rooms are a lot smaller than at Luxor, but the quality of the decor is better, stylish in fact. Skip the cheapest Skyline Rooms and pay $10 more for a Park Ave Deluxe room, which although small (400 sq ft), is comfy and has contemporary, even edgy design. Or spend more and get more.

    * The scene at NYNY is different than at Luxor. Kids love the roller coaster and game arcade, and the casino attracts a younger, college-age crowd. The bars and nightclubs are nothing special, but the piano bar at Times Square is popular. A few of the budget-friendly restaurants are recommendable (Il Fornaio for affordable breakfasts, cheap takeout from Greenwich Village). And MGM Grand, with its top-end dining, is right across the street (with its monorail station)

Still confused? I'd pick where you stay based on what's most important to you. I'd rather be closer to the heart of the Strip and stay in a smaller, cooler-looking room, so I usually pick NYNY...unless Luxor is a lot cheaper, in which case I can be convinced to stay a bit further south. Good luck!

If your only two choices are Luxor or NYNY, then I would tell you hit NYNY. I haven't stayed there, but I did stay at Luxor and just really am not crazy about it. (I have stayed next door at MB several times; love it) The rooms are nothing special (the 45 degree elevators are kind of cool though!) and over all the hotel really didn't do much for me. NYNY is in a much better (and accessible) spot on the strip. There is a cool vibe there and tons of restaurants and bars to hang out at.

Also an FYI: I have friends in Phoenix that swear by driving to LV instead of flying. They say it takes about the same amount of time once you factor in airport screwing around time!! plus you have a car once you get there!

I would go with NYNY just for location. I have stayed at both hotels and they are on the same playing field as far as I'm concerned. I've never had problems at either with any room troubles. NYNY doesn't really have a lot as far as nightclubs... they have Rok, a cool piano bar, and an amazing Irish pub. There are tons of places to eat within NYNY too. And like I said, NYNY is more centrally located on the strip compared to Luxor. So from NYNY you can walk to a ton of other places, whereas with Luxor, Mandalay Bay is the only other thing really nearby.

Las Vegas is probably the most exciting and engaging town on the planet and with hotelbye you will find out more. Nowhere else in the world you will discover an area that has most of the journey amenities that only a complete resort location could offer: luxurious casino resorts, great food, wonderful stay activity and state-of-the art tradition and trade display facilities. Las Vegas is definitely a magnificent city and exactly what you'd expect from the world-class metropolis, and more, is the following for the travel pleasure. One of the areas you need to visit in Las Vegas is the Fremont Street, a pedestrian area with all sorts of special sites.

Stay away from the Luxor. The rooms are not that great. Definitely stay at NY NY or the MGM Grand. You can party anywhere you want in Las Vegas. Go for the Spa Suite or Marquis Suite at NY NY. Here is a video tour of NYNY rooms

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible because is a big city like you will discover with Hotelbye . In New York you can see the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and much more. Empire State Building causes it to be worth braving the extended lines, high solution prices and dizzying heights to see the town from a premier that storied building. Integrated 1931, the skyscraper may be the second-tallest developing in New York and is one of the very immediate representations of Gotham, therefore significantly in order that it's performed a role in films such as for instance King Kong, An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle.

ive haven't stayed at luxor but last recently we we were in Vegas for vacation and we stayed at Ny Ny. the hotel room we stayed in was great. it was nice and posh and also very clean. but i guess it depends on what kind of room ur staying in. we got an upgrade. also, on the bottom floor there is an area where u can walk around and it is built like a mini manhattan. there are shops and places to eat. but i dont think u should spend too much time thinking about what hotel to stay in. When ur in vegas, its not necessary to spend very much time in ur hotel room. theres so much other stuff to do.

my husband and i have stayed at the ny ny twice now...it is very classy and affordable. But, I have wanted to stay at the luxor for a while now....they both have a good location and scene...you should stay at which ever one has the better deal. You will have fun either way!

Stayed or had friends stay at both, neither with problems like sheets, etc.

I do not remember the night clubs at NYNY but Luxor has two great ones.

Several casinos, like Harrahs Corp, are offered the buffet deal
