PayPal and bank accounts?
To recieve money from someone, does my bank account have to be hooked up to my PayPal?

No, it does not. The money will still come to your paypal account and be held there. You can then spend it on-line at sites that accept paypal, request a check (small fee) or get a paypal debit card (small fee for each use).
Linking to a bank account, though, is easiest, as you can then simply transfer the funds from paypal to your bank account, free.
