My laptop (Dell Inspiron) Freezes when I try to open anyway. Any clue whats wrong?

Ive had no luck talking to Del because I dont have the service #. My laptop will start and let me sign on but as soon as I try to open ANYTHING it freezes. This includes my McAfee so I cant even run a virus scan. Any solutions?

Start it up and press F6 immediately, select safe mode. If it usable then, try doing a scan. If not, restart, press F6 again, and select repair my computer. Select system restore, choose a restore point from before this happened, and see if it works. If not, figure out how to do the Recovery partition thing.

You probably have a virus. You will most likely have to format your HDD and re-install the operating system. If you have any future questions e-mail me at wjz1095@yahoo.com.

go into bios(f2 @ startup) and disable "powernow" save and exit. or it may be a driver problem.
