When did the World trade center become a holy Christian hallowed ground site?
I had no idea that the WTC was a divine Christian holy site, where Christian pilgrims flock from all over the world to pray and look for guidance from Christ.
I had no idea that the Pope went to the WTC and blessed the ground. I had no idea that the Christian Vatican declared that the WTC is Christian Holy ground.
I thought that the USA was a country free of religion.
I thought that the founding fathers tried to escape religious persecution, and created the USA so that any religion can build wherever they like.
I thought that people believed in the constitution, and followed its rules, granting freedom from prejudice for religions.
I thought that it was Al Qaida who attacked us, and not Islam, like GW Bush and the Republicans once said after 9/11.
I thought that many Muslims died in the WTC attacks, along with Jews and Christians.
I thought that many Muslims were first responders to help those in need on 9/11
I thought that many Muslims sent millions of dollars in aid to the victims of 9/11
I thought that nearly all Muslims condemned the attack.
I had no idea that the WTC site was Christian holy ground, and that all Muslims are at war with the USA.
When did the pope declare that the WTC site was Christian holy ground. Can someone please provide me a link.
Oh, and can someone please provide me a link where it says in the constitution that only Christian religions are tolerated in the USA! I missed that one too.

They are not building on the ashes of anyone.
The proposed Muslim community center is 2 blocks away from ground zero. There are no ashes of anyone there.

This is a real mess and what I have to say will upset some and others will agree. I am patently offended by the whole "mosque at Ground Zero" bs because it is bs. It's neither a mosque nor is it being built on "Ground Zero". It's a muslim community center being built 2 blocks away on private property. As Americans, we have the right to worship as we see fit and to live peaceful lives in our beliefs. Americans and those who died on 9/11 aren't the only casualties of the attack. What of the 100s of thousands of people that we killed in Iraq and Afghanistan on the basis of the actions of 19 men? For the most part they were muslim, why did we think it was ok for us to kill over 100 innocent people for every one person that died at the WTC? What about the idea that most Americans consider those 19 men to be representative of over 1 billion muslims around the world? They are not and were never that. The people of Islam have suffered greatly because of the actions of the very few but no one ever considers that.
Then you have the people that claim this is a "slap in the face to the victims families". The families of the victims of 9/11 each received a minimum of just over $1,000,000.00 some a lot more. The only reason I bring this up is to make a comparison. How much money did the families of victims from the terrorist attack in 1995 at Oklahoma City receive? Were these people less victims than those on 9/11? Remember there was a daycare center in the Murrah building and children died that day. Like I said this is only a comparison but does the state of New York have the added burden of getting the approval of these individuals in civic matters? I am not comfortable with the controversy and bad feelings this is stirring up. Why do we allow hatred to run rampant these days, when we should be reaching to each other in peace and trying coexist the best way we can?

Maybe the only Christian shrine to be surrounded by McDonalds, Starbucks, and strip clubs. Walk around that area and that is what you see. And there were, and still are, two other mosques within walking distance of the WTC site, over 90 mosques throughout the New York City area, and there is even a mosque within the Pentagon which was also attacked on 911. And few people realize that over 60 Muslim Americans were killed while working that day in WTC buildings. This is merely a wedge issue that the right has clamped onto, nothing more that political games.

You know whats funny is apparently there is a greek Orthodox church around the same place this mosque is being built that was damaged in the attacks and they cant get permits 10 years later to rebuild yet Muslims can build there church in a place were fellow muslims murdered thousands hmm hows that religious freedom working for america now.

The world trade centre has a deep meaning to Americans so by default it would have a deep meaning to Christians
Gee I did know know the first responders were Muslims
The only aid by Muslims I heard of was some half wit wanted to hand a check for a million dollars and try and explain the meaning behind 9/11 He was told to take his check and shove it were the sun does not shine

Nobody claims it's that. It's out of respect for victims & families. Jet landing gear went through the roof. Even smart Muslims know that. An article by two calls it "deliberate provocation".
I can't cut & paste on phone, but Google this: "raheel raza and tarek fatah mosque article". It's good!!!!!!

I'm amazed that there are actually people responding to this with the claim that it is a holy "Christian" site. Kind of like saying: "those of you who are not Christians have no reason to be concerned with the site at all". Now who's insensitive?

There's no link to common sense and compassion. If the Muslim promoter wants to build a mosque on the ashes of slaughtered 9/11 victims, it pretty much explains the demented mindset he shares with those paying for the structure. Freedom of religion is one thing - - playing up the murders of the innocent is not of religion but is of evil.

The second it became useful as a wedge issue to Un-American racist zealots running as Republicans.

When did the World trade center become a holy Christian hallowed ground site?

It is Holy American ground, just like the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor. The mosque that they are wanting to build is a monument to their perceived victory over America. It would be like building a statue of Adm. Yamamoto in Pearl Harbor.
