Why are McDonald's new Fruit Smoothies so expensive?
Last time, i got two large smoothies. One wild berry and one strawberry banana for me and my little cousin. They costed about seven dollars or more. When i received the smoothies, they were not even filled to the cup size. A quarter or the smoothie was missing. I asked the cashier "Can you please fill this up to the top?" Then she responded, "I'll get the manager." The manager told me that, that was as far as it's filled. I just got pissed off and asked for a refund. Then i went to a chinese restaurant across the street to get two large smoothies (they were MUCH bigger than mcdonalds') for just four dollars combined. So i'm wondering, why are McDonald's new Fruit Smoothies so expensive?

I could be wrong, but it's likely that the Chinese ones were made of fruit flavoring rather than actual fruit. The fact is that real fruits and vegetables cost more than things like corn syrup and white bread - they're more expensive to manufacture and they come from farther away. Compare to places like Jamba Juice and you'll see that using real fruit and yogurt can't be done cheaply.
Also, McDonald's prices vary a lot by region; there are spots in the country where their smoothies cost as little as $2.29 apiece.
