As about a 7 year old, I didn't know what an electric fence was. I was petting a horse. After several minutes, yes, minutes, I had a bloody burn clear across my stomach. This was through a shirt. You say bloody nose, this usually means blood from inside of the body. I take it you mean that the horse had blood on the outside, like a cut. This is do to the electric causing the water to boil & rupturing blood vessels close to the surface. If the charger unit is adjustable you could turn it down. I'm not sure on a horse, but an electric shock that can kill a cow, will only hurt a human.

The flags on the fence would be good, a little psychological training. That's the real purpose of the invisible fence for dogs.

Yes, we have, but it was only one and it was when we turned our several horses out in their new pasture when we moved. They'd never been around electric before and only had field fence and barb wire. The problem was that they weren't properly exposed to it. You should really do like you would with a dog and an invisible fence. They can sense whether it's on or not. You walk them up and down beside the fence before you let them go and preferablly only let a couple out at a time to keep them from getting reved up and running. That's how ours got shocked. He was running and did a sliding stop into it, nose first. It zapped him on the end of the nose and caused it to blister and bleed a little. It was probably set too high. The others didn't try it after that. They can tell when it's off though, because I'll see them test it when i've got it unplugged. They don't try to get out, but they will be more willing to touch it and be bad around it.

None of my horses have as we have an open 18 acre pasture that is just 4 pannel wooded fence.

But the horse that I lease for showing (which is stupid as I have 7 horses but they are not able to do the Jumping events I do as they are mainly ranch horses and western eventing and dressage horses). Has. The farm that he is at (which is a lesson facility) has the gelding/mare pasture (which is where he is), with electric fencing and when I went to get him out of the pasture last week, he got all excited and ran up to the fence and started throwing his head around and he whacked his nose on the fence and it started bleeding a little. But it stopped and I rubbed it and he was fine lol.

I just like the tape ,the huge top pleasant stuff tho ,no longer the little a million/two" or five/eight's ribbon, I like the two a million/two" stuff two publications al the best way round with two strands of constant #nine twine (I use one for the bottom twine) on 7' T's approximately 12' aside ..and I like a fantastic electrical top impedence fencer (one of the crucial weed burner varieties) over the low impedence ones or the battery or sun ones ,the little men simply dont have the "hit' to educate a lesson the primary time, just like the tremendous farm animals varieties do
