What percent of your reading material consists of non-fiction writing?

For me, it's about 95%.

47.392%... exactly. I just calculated it. (And studies show that 93% of all statistics are made up on the spot... mazel tov.) ;)

But to answer the question seriously, it's probably pretty low. It's been said that truth is stranger than fiction, but I prefer fantasy to reality. When I read, I leave the imperfect "real" world far behind. And I love that. xD

Source(s): Avid reader. But "avid" doesn't even begin to cover it. I read non-stop. :)

    Fiction.

Some months, it's been as high as 90%.

Other times, like recently, it's been about 20%. I've been on a fiction streak lately, a lot of novels, about 15 or so of the Greek tragedies, and even some short story collections.

  • About 60 or 65%, mostly herbals, history, mysticism, how to, I know it sounds dry, but, I have a lot of material on genetics that I find just fascinating. I also read a lot of law and legislation.

When I need light reading I read fantasy and science fiction.

I usually go through two or three books a week, if I'm too busy to read that much I feel cheated!

About 25%. I like non-fiction, and find that it helps me learn more about the world. But I'm in a book club that prefers novels, and I need to read fiction to help me become better at writing it.

90% of my reading material is popular science, but I use fiction as brain candy when I need a break from intellectual pursuits.

I get through three books a week so even that 10% is a lot of fiction.

  • Probably 1-2%, not counting anything from textbooks that I have to read for classes.

I'm not a fan of the real world.

I assume you mean recreational non-fiction book reading?

It used to be 0%, but now probably 5%.

If I count just leisurely reading, then about 5% of what I read is non-fiction. My personal preference leans toward fictional works.

If I count what I have to read for my classes, including textbooks and such, then closer to 50% of what I read is non-fiction.

    Best wishes!
