Do You think it's right for a teams announcers to criticize another Ball Park?

I got the idea from when I was watching the Mets game today well right now..anyway I heard either Keith Hernandez or Gary Cohen or both call Citizens Bank Park a "joke" and I didn't like that,no ballpark deserves to be made fun of...that kind of made me lose a little respect for them because I know they were talking about the Astrodome before..I was like come on citizens bank park.It doesn't even have to with the mets or the astrodome..but anyway I'd like to hear YOUR thoughts on this or even if a home announcer did the same thing..and of course do you think it's a right thing to do?

Update:

I do agree on that xD I mean the trop I can agree on because of it the rays lost a game but it seemed more to me like Hernandez/Cohen were making fun of rather than criticizing citizens bank park. because they called it "a joke"

He called the park a "joke". You know, I think that would bother me too. It's juvenile. Yes, announcers can make criticisms, but try to leave a level of professionalism and honor to you comments.

I've heard announcers criticize ballparks, but they give reasons why and don't just stomp their feet, laugh and say "it's a joke!"

  • This is an example on why i don't like Gary Cohen. He's one of the most biased announcers i have ever seen not to mention one of the biggest crybabies when his precious Mets are not doing well. The way he goes crazy when the Mets win or a Met gets a hit or a Home Run u would think the man is in love with the Mets Players(Especially David Wright.) Cohen also stole the TV Announcers job from Howie Rose who was originally slated for the position. But Cohen cried so much about how unfair that was that SNY relented to this whiny baby. He's just a bitter moron who's upset that the Phils have dominated the Mets the last few years. I missed the days when the Announcers actually DID THEIR PROFESSIONAL JOBS! & not be so biased. And yes i include the Yankee Announcers as well.

As somebody with extraordinary hours and mlb radio at artwork, I actually have a numerous likes. Jerry Coleman and Ted Leitner, the Padres announcers, save me company at nighttime. Jerry is unquestionably into his 80s, yet his memories approximately baseball frequently and the Yankees specifically interior the previous due 40s and early 50s are beautiful and frequently very humorous. Steve Stone, the White Sox radio announcer, is count of actuality and expert. The Brennermans, father and son, have a special chemistry on the Reds video games. i admire Ron Santo for his unabashed and unprofessional homerism. The worst, certainly the "numba ten" worst, unlistenable, has no company in a radio sales area under any circumstances, is Susan Walden. the combination of that voice and her finished Yankee bias makes her audio torture to me.

It's fine I guess. Yankees announcer Michael Kay was going on about how the the field at the new Target Field in Minnesota is too big, and during interleague play he was going on about how Citifield is too big and power hitters traded to the Mets from other teams get frustrated because hits that are normally home runs in other parks are fly ball outs there.

Frankly I think Citizen's Bank Park is a beautiful ball park. There isn't a bad seat in the house. I've been there many times since it opened and have enjoyed each and every trip. The Mets and everyone connected with the Mets seem to have a real problem with Philadelphia, the team and the fans. It's better known as "sour grapes".

It's fine. Announcers do it all the time. They're just expressing their opinions. They don't have to like a certain park. Every time we have a series in Tampa Bay, the Red Sox announcers make sure to mention how horrible Tropicana Field (which I'm sure everyone can agree on).

They were wrong, actually, they meant that the entire city is a joke. The Phillies should move to Camden, now, that's a nice place.

No, I don't, it is wrong and very unprofessional. These people are in the media and national spotlight and have an obligation to be fair and non-bias, such slander could be grounds for termination if kept up.

  • I don't really mind, it's their right. People can talk crap about the stadium, Hell everyone talks about how bad the Trop is. I don't blame them!. Whatever happened to freedom of speech anyways?

No I don't. I remember Ken Harelson said that Comerica Park was too big, and no fans were dare come to it. Look at US Cellular.
