No period but negative pregnancy test, am I pregnant?

I had protected sex with a condom on the 1st and 4th August, and my last period was on the 16th, normally my period are usually regular, give or take about 3/4 days, but it's the 20th August now and i've still had no period or indication of one. I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and it said I was negative. But could I still be pregnant? Thanks

Update:

I have no symptoms whatsoever, when should I take another test?

There is the possibility that you could be pregnant, but also stress and other factors may cause your period to be late. I say if you haven't started in 2 more days take another test, and if it's negative too go see your doctor.

There are no false positives, but false negatives crop up every once in a while. Perhaps it was too early to detect the pregnancy hormone. Stress and other hormonal changes can cause late periods (thus pregnancy worries) among other things. But if I was in your situation I would carry on as though I were pregnant, reducing smoking and cutting out drinks, etc, and take a test in another three days or so :) It's better to err on the side of safety. Take the next test in the morning, when your pregnancy hormone would be the strongest and easiest to detect.

    Good luck!

You say your periods are irregular - give or take 3/4 days - its 4 days now. Hang on for another week when you will get a more accurate result if you do a pregnancy test. However, you have not said you have any pregnancy symptoms and a condom is safe providing its used correctly.

well by the sounds of it you poss had sex during your ovulation so yes there is a chance. If you have had a neg test but no period it could just mean that your hcg levels are not high enough yet. My advice would be to leave it another couple of days and test again. Rememebr do it first thing in the morning. Do you have any other symptoms????

you should take another test in about four days :-) x

im in the exact same boat. im 7 days late (im a very regular person) and have taken 6 tests, all negative. i think i am preggo. and iv asked and researched this question. and a lot of people tell me it is possible. and some people even get a false negative blood test and wind up pregnant. im going to go to the doctor to get blood work. i kinda think i am, but all the tests say negative. do you have symptoms? i feel naseated at time ( but sometimes i wonder if its all in my head since im thinking i am) and some peopl esay you can total miss a period by just thikning you are pregnant. gah!!!

Source(s): my own experience going on as we speak!!! im in the same boat as you and its confusing!!

If you have had protected sex you should not be pregnant unless something is not being said. I am suggesting to not stress yourself over this and just live a stress free life until you dont get your period next month as well. Thats when you worry.

Just take another test just to be sure and if it comes back negative then ur not pregnant if your still not sure then go to your doctor just to check.

You may just have an irregular preiod. If you are pregnant, it may help to wait a couple weeks to take another test.

yes you could. pregnancy tests aren't 100% accurate.

but it's still too early. maybe you're just stressed out. sometimes periods are late.
