Why wont my go carts fuel get carried to the bottom of the carborator?

I have a Sunl go cart, no clue how many cc's it is but it has been sitting in a garage for 1 year, not touched, had a full tank of old gas, took the old gas out, put new gas in, emptied the carborator, but it still wont star. I poured some fuel in the carborator and it started perfectly, but quickly shut it self off. We took the carborator off and saw, the gas was gone and no new gas was in its place. Any ideas???

Update:

Fuel is going through the fuel line.

At this time you must completely disassemble the carburetor to see if the float / needle and seat is plugged. Clean all the circuits and jets with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner. If the cart has a fuel filter does fuel run out of the filter before the carb.

I don't have any idea if the cart has a diaphragm fuel pump between the fuel tank and the carburetor but the diaphragm inside the fuel pump may not be pumping fuel to the carb.

If it doesn't have a fuel pump is gas running freely out the fuel line to the carb?

This is a ''gravity'' feed system only, so it doesn't take much to have this problem. The old gas left in the tank has turned to ''varnish'' in your little carb. Like the other posters say, just give everything a good cleaning, blow thru the needle and seat hole. If it does have a small in-line filter you should change it also. After that and you know that gas flows freely from the tank(no restriction in the tank outlet) then all will be good. Caution when you have the bowl off the carb, the little float is easy to get out of adjustment if you mishandle it.

Next time you park it for a long time drain the tank and run the engine until it ''dies'' to run all the gas is out of the carb. the ''staybil'' product works also

more than likely your needle valve is stuck in your carb. if you know how to work on carbs, pull the needle valve out and clean it and the seat. If you dont know much about carbs, then take it to a small engine repair shop and see if they can rebuild it. Most shops will tell you to replace the carb though.

the float might be stuck or the diaphram is no good.if it has a float ,try tapping on the carb.
