superstitions and the nuremberg trial?
i read in a book (dictionnaire des supersitions et de croyances -Pierre Canavaggio) about the implications of the number 13 in the collective mind, and among many examples there was a short note about the fact that the Nazis condemned to death had to climb 13 steps to the platform where they were hanged. so my question is if this is pure coincidence or was something premeditated when organized the execution. i would like some documented answers not opinions. many thanks.

You need not look much further than Wikipedia to make the matter even more foggy. Hitler was known to make a public display of being a practicing member of the occult.
No one other than the man who fashioned the steps had orders for numbering 13 by design or whether it was happenstance is likely to remain unrecoverable information. The fact there were 13 steps has been recorded in several accounts.
The other factor that may have come into play, is that 13 steps is the common number of steps to the gallows. Hence the gallows being built with 13 steps may have not been a direct result of any orders for such, but just the contractor following common practice at the time.
