How do I change my Yahoo e mail account?

Basically, all I want is an e mail account. What I do not want is this social networking thing that Yahoo dropped on me where I see lots of pointless information about people, most of whom I do not know and do not wish to know...Fred is now friends with Babs...Freda looked up breast feeding...this sort of mindless rubbish. Can I get rid of this option and turn it back into just a simple e mail account anyone?

I suspect you're talking about the "updates" on your mail page. (I hate that, too)

All you really have to do is disable updates on your settings.

Mail page>>options>>mail/more options>>and the "general" page opens.

Near the top of that page----UN-CHECK the button next to "Enable updates".

Then click "save changes" at the top of the page.

That's to keep your mail page clear of those updates.

    ......................................…

AND---This is to keep any updates "about you" from being shared on other people's mail page.

    On any Answers page:

Mouse over "My Activity" and in that drop menu, click "Edit my preferences".

On that page, click the "Privacy and Communications" tab

Then scroll to and on "manage updates"---click "Don't share with anyone".

    AND "save".

If you don't find that link---then it's already been checked at an earlier time.
