Why are people making a big deal over that mosque?
I still don't understand, and this coming from an non-immagrant American...
Why is this mosque TWO BLOCKS away from ground zero such a big deal?
Has anyone made a big deal yet about rude jehovah witnesses leaving their nasty pamphlets on our car windshields, creating all kinds of liter with that junk!
Or How about the christians who are always begging to get things donated/giving to them~ WTF do they do for free? One/Two days out of the whole year, give free food to homeless people. GOOD JOB~ I'm sure u deserve to go to heaven for caring about someone 1-2 days out of 365, and cause u get indirectly paid to do it as well!
I swear if they were building a church their no one would complain, but its a mosque D: oh noes... no one is allowed to be muslim int hat area of town i suppose... even tho theirs **** loads of muslims serving halal to hungry American people ALL over manhattan.... but they don't deserve to pray to their God.. but Christians TOTALLY do... cause their radicals didn't blow up towers~ their radicals instead fathered extremist like Hitler...
Look i heard the grievence part of the sitation, I'm totally empathic and can understand why people may have a problem with it, but the thing is... this crap has been going on for months.. mind you... some people really believe Obama has something to do with the mosque in NYC, people keep telling me he's a muslim as if i don't know (so what he's a muslim, he's black too and i still haven't gotten any benefit from him being in presidency)... some of this crap is purely unrelated to the situation... people think this mosque is at ground zero when its not. 2 blocks away doesn't mean at G0, it means 2 blocks away.. Lastly I never said Christian organizations don't feed the starving, I said they do it to make themselves look good and ONLY for that reason, and because receiving a sizable donation for very little loss is a PROFIT in their books~ Really who the hell you think pays for them huge towering crosses and other fancy crap that they put on those church building?

The proposed victory mosque near to ground zero is not really a religious institution. It would be -- as many mosques throughout the nation are -- a terrorist recruitment, indoctrination and training center. It is not the worship of Islam that is the problem. It is the efforts to advance Sharia law, with its requirement of jihad and violence, that is the core of the issue.
There is a global effort to advance Sharia law and make it the legal system of the world. Most major banks and financial institutions offer Sharia compliant funds, which have their investments vetted by the most fundamentalist and reactionary of clerics to assure that they advance Sharia law.
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the founder of the proposed victory mosque, helps to prepare a Sharia index that rates countries on their degree of compliance with Sharia law. In the United Kingdom, many courts have recognized Sharia as the governing law on matters between two Muslims.
Not only is Sharia law a vicious anti-female code that orders death by stoning, promotes child marriage, decriminalizes abuse of women and gives wives no rights in divorce, but it also explicitly recognizes the duty of all Muslims to wage jihad against non-believers and promotes violence to achieve its goals. In this respect, violent jihad is as inherent in Sharia law as revolution is in communist doctrine.
But there are non-Sharia mosques where peaceful and spiritual Muslims worship God in their own way without promoting violence. A soon-to-be published study funded by Frank Gaffney's Center for Security Policy found that 20 percent of the mosques in the United States have no taint of Sharia and simply promote peaceful worship. But 80 percent are filled with violent literature, Sharia teachings, and promotion of jihad and its inevitable concomitant -- terrorism.
Which brings us to the ground zero victory mosque. There can be no doubt that any mosque organized and run by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf will be based on Sharia law and will serve as local branch office of the pan-Islamic terrorist offensive against the west. That such a facility should be located right next to the place where jihad achieved its most hideous triumph is unspeakably inappropriate.
President Obama is confusing the issue when he describes it as one of religious freedom. There is broad latitude to worship God as one chooses. But there is none to promote violence and terrorism. The record of involvement of Sharia mosques with the 9-11 attackers and the Ft. Hood massacre shooter is so deep and extensive that it vividly underscores the difference between a religious institution and an organization that promotes terrorism.
Politically, President Obama's defense of the victory mosque and his efforts to make it a First Amendment issue are incredibly self-destructive. It is hard to believe how tone deaf he must have become to take such a position. What is he using for brains these days? o_O

I have talked to several people about the ground zero mosque.
ls lam has always constructed a mosque in areas that won a victory or conquered.
From peaceful to radical in the Islamic work is a very short trip.
The fact is that there are few Muslims in the area. The main center of the Muslim population is more that several miles away. From the Muslim population area to ground zero there are 5 sizable mosques.
What is the purpose to constructing a mosque. If the Muslims sponsoring the building of the mosque wanted peaceful relationships with non believers they would not be raising animosity and be more culturally sensitive.
There are several reasons building a mosque within a short distance is not a good idea.
For the most part there are better, cheaper and more accessible proprieties available such as 1 million-square-foot building at 360 Furman St.
For the most part People consider building a mosque "in your face" we have the "right to" and a big middle finger to the American people.
This is the combined view of religious and non religious people I have talked with both American and non-Americans.
Many people really do not care.

Don't you need to ask yourself instead just why it is - given all the animosity towards radical muslims following the 9/11 atrocity - that any muslim would think it would be acceptable to build a mosque anywhere near the place? It's either insensitivity or it's taking the piss. That Obama could support such a thing is not only offensive but deeply troubling to a great many people.
Also do you really have any idea what you're talking about when you allege that Christian radicals fathered Hitler - the man in whose name 6,000,000 Jews were ethnicly-cleansed and murdered?
And without Christian philantropy many thousands of people would be going hungry. It is good that muslims serve Halal food to poor people. ALL of us are supposed to support the genuinely poor in our local communities. Our world is also imperfect and full of greedy selfish bastards freeloading off the goodwill of others; do not be afraid to identify them.

Sounds like you don't know what happened at ground zero. There was a church already there but it was destroyed when the twin towers felled. To this day they are not allowed to rebuild their church on the same spot they had before Ground zero, yet this muslim mosque is wanting to build a mosque at ground zero, why should we sit back & let muslims that destroyed the twin towers biuld a mosque as a slap in the face of those 3000 people that were killed when the church that was already there & owns the property can't rebuild there church there, BTW Obama is muslim by his own speech on video I have seen more then one time, So you muslims think you can slip in the back door. No I don't think so, because the people of the USA is much bigger then Obama, Remember he works for us tax payers, we don't work for him.

A so called christian nation so full of hate, violence. Jefferson said it best
[Creeds] have been the bane and ruin of the Christian church, its own fatal invention, which, through so many ages, made of Christendom a slaughterhouse, and at this day divides it into castes of inextinguishable hatred to one another.
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Thomas Whitmore, June 5, 1822, quoted from James A Haught, editor, 2000 Years of Disbelief
On the dogmas of religion, as distinguished from moral principles, all mankind, from the beginning of the world to this day, have been quarreling, fighting, burning and torturing one another, for abstractions unintelligible to themselves and to all others, and absolutely beyond the comprehension of the human mind.
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Archibald Carey, 1816

You have made some excellent points - I take my hat off to you! I think the reason people are upset is purely an emotional problem and straight forward ignorance. Maybe some "organization" is attempting to cause unrest in the United States.

the towers were over two blocks high
look at a map of the site. two blocks is nothing.
i think it is just too close.
its backers are fully aware that it will upset the families of those who died, but they are simply ignoring them.
they cannot pretend to be all about community cohesion when they display such blatent insensitivity.

It is the practice of Muslims to build a large mosque to celebrate victory after every major victory. The Mosque at ground zero will be looked at as a major Islamic victory over the US.

The media is still making it a big deal therefore keeping in the forefront of peoples minds. This will continue until the elections in November.

The people making a 'big deal' are the only ones who actually care about the victims of 9/11 and their families' feelings. Liberals would rather allow the muslims to take over this great country and make sure the muzlims feelings don't ever get hurt.
Too bad for you libs that more and more people are now waking up to the muzlim threat, so true all true Americans, sign the petition now and stop the islamization of our great country! http://www.humanevents.com/offers/offer.php?id=MSQ...
