Speeding Ticket. Car insurance. Help Please.?
Can anyone give me information on a 70/55 speeding ticket.( Huron County, Michigan) I just received a ticket earlier this a.m. Trying to get a price idea and any suggestions/tips how to go about not getting any points. I'm under my parents insurance. If I go to the court house and pay for my ticket how long before my parents will know about it? Via insurance....I would like to just pay for the ticket and it be swept under the rug without anyone...and I mean anyone finding out.

Don't wait until court date. Go ahead of time and talk to the judges secretary and see if you can get the the charge changed to non moving violation. She/He may send you elsewhere and you may have to put some legwork in on this - ie, you may get some run around. 15 over the speed limit gets you loss of license for 90 days plus around here and / or $250 fine.

See the county clerk, unless the ticket has the option of no court appearance. If the officer gave you a break and allowed direct payment of the ticket then no court appearance is needed.
If the officer wrote the ticket with out the weaver option, then more then likely there is no quiet way to end the matter. You may be ordered to appear with your parents if you are a minor.
Good luck, at least the ticket was not for more then 20 over.

You cannot avoid your parents finding out. The points will go on your license and when the insurance company looks at your record they will know. Once they know they may (not will) raise the rates. AS to the amount of the fine. Call the jurisdiction that wrote the ticket. They are the only ones who can tell you the amount.

If your a minor, they will be notified regardless. I wouldn't try to keep this a secret, you could be causing a lot more problems than just owning up to a mistake.
