Im going to pierce my own septum..?
i might, its just i live in a small town and nowhere pierces septums. And yes i have looked (:
so im going to pierce it myself, i cant buy online as i have no credit/bank card, my mum says i can do it, but she said shes not getting involved, which means not driving me to the city to get it done.
So, can I use a needle bought from a sewing shop, like a hollow one i guess, and how do i sterilize the needle.
Any and all the info you give me would be great!
Dont tell me not to do it, im going to. So either give me info, or i'll do it anyways.
Thanks (:
the most info gets best answer i guess :3
oh and also, i live in Scotland, what stores can i buy a sterile needle from, and do i have to be 18 to buy a needle?

first off, a sewing needle will not pierce through tough cartilage like that and you cannot sterilize a sewing needle well enough for it to pierce through it.. but hey, it's up to you..
you need a hollow needle for piercings and you're not going to find a hollow needle anywhere online.. if you're lucky to find one, it's probably infected with hepititis or hiv..
best of luck to you though..

I piercing my septum with a large sewing needle and i sterilized it with peroxide, its not the best but it did the job, i Just rinsed the peroxide off the needle before i pierced it because peroxide is not meant to be used on puncture wounds, only cut and scraps. Professional needles are always going to be the better choice but if you cant get a hold of one then you are just going to have to deal with what you have got. When you pierce it you have to be careful that you DON'T pierce the cartilage in your nose because that is not where the septum is meant to be pierced. If you feel inside your nose there should be a gap of Just skin between the two pieces of cartilage also known as the "sweet spot" And get some salt solution from a local piercer to clean it, cleaning is essential with all piercings but i think is more important with self piercings because everything isn't as sterile as it should be. Use gloves or make sure your hands are really clean! Make sure the Needle is slightly bigger then the jewellery as well.
Sorry that its not very organized i Just typed as it came to mind ha ha :\

If you buy a needle physically, yes you have to be 18. Use a PIERCING needle not a sewing needle. if your mom is supportive why dont you give her the money and have her buy one online? that way youll at least be safe instead of doing it wrong and causing scar tissue. dont do it yourself, have someone else do it so it turns out straight. mirrors bend images and doing that type of thing to yourself is scary, it will not come out straight. also, the only way to sterilize something is an autoclave. they are found at hospitals and tattoo shops. fire sanitizes which is the second lowest level of cleaning (right after soap)

okay i am against self piercings, but the typical way a person sterilizes it by fire. you will need better needles. When you do it, find a place on your septum when you don'tt feel pain when you squeezee it (that's what they did when my best friend got hers professionally pierced.) now pain is always going to be there so be ready to feel pressure. before you begin pushing the needle threw you take a deep breath, then you breath deep and slowly till the needle has gone threw to the other side. when putting the jewerly in you will feel a small amount of pain also, so be ready for that.

A sewing needle isn't hollow and cannot be sterilized. If you want to pierce yourself and not get hepatitis and God knows what else from a dirty needle, at the very least, find yourself a prepackaged sterile needle & body jewelry.

Do NOT use a hollow needle. Use a medical needle. Do you have a tattoo shop in town? They might be able to provide the needle. But you've got to be careful. Done incorrectly you'll end up with a horrible scar.

All health reasons aside, if you pierce it yourself it WILL come out crooked, and crooked septum piercings are definitely noticable
