If it's not a mosque, why are Muslims already praying there?

Setting aside the fact that it's routinely been described as a Muslim Community Center which *includes* a mosque, I have to point out that there is really no rule that says people can't pray outside of a mosque. Back when I was working retail, I had a Muslim coworker who would go into the room where they kept all the defective items people returned, lay a paper towel on the floor, and that was how he'd pray while at work.

I agree with conner. Are there any basketball courts/pools in mosques? When I traveled to many Arab countries they don't have or allow anything but a praying area in mosques. IT IS A COMMUNITY CENTER NOT A MOSQUE. and so what if it was does that in danger you as a person? What people get all ignorant/hysterical about is that in the COMMUNITY CENTER there is a praying area for muslims.

Yes, the Community Center will include a mosque, as well as a basketball court, and a swimming pool.

There is a Mosque there, it is small and not able to meet the needs of the local Muslims. Therefore they raised private funds bought private property passed all the zoning hurdles and now will build a new improved "Community Center" with a small Mosque inside.

If it was "just a mosque", it wouldn't have a basketball court...how many mosques do you know with basketball courts?

considering there's already 2 mosques in the area, i don't see why they need another one, and even if they want to call it a community center, it's still a mosque, you can call a cat a dog but it's still a cat.
