Where there two different HP ratings for V6 Mustangs in 2009?
My friend has a 2009 Mustang Convertible, an automatic V6 model. She paid extra for some type of premium package and says that extra power was part of the deal.
I can't find any clear information on this on Wikipedia or elsewhere. Since I haven't ever seen two different horsepower figures listed for the V6 Mustang in 2009, I'm guessing that what she actually paid extra for was, among other things, shorter gearing in car's rear end. A more performance oriented final drive ratio would, of course, improve acceleration, thus creating the impression of added power even though the HP rating would be unchanged.
My other thought is that maybe her mustang came with a less restrictive exhaust, and therefore did have a few extra HP?
If anybody knows the exact HP figure for this car, I'd be very interested. It does seem to have really terrific acceleration for a non-V8 car.

Nope the V6 model had 210 HP in 2009 period. There was a pony package available that got you fog lamps, bigger tires/wheels and firmer suspension. But the gearing was unchanged and the engine was untouched
What Mustang Mike is referring to is the V6 Performance package is available on the 2011 V6. It gets alot of the GT suspension bits, wheels and tires, and a 3.31 rear gear. The standard rear end gear for the 2011 V6 Mustang is a 2.73. However all 2005-2010 V6 Mustangs have 3.31 gears from the factory.

No, in terms of factory packages. The Pony Package is purely apperance.
The 215hp SOHC 4.0 V6's have pretty decent pull in stock form, however. Not alarmingly fast, not slouching either.
Unless she got some type of dealer-specific package installed which would consist of whatever the dealer wanted to add (and therefore unique to the dealer she bought it from, so only she and the dealer would really know), she has 215 horsepower.
She would need things like a new intake, or pullies, or exhaust for any extra horsepower. Even then it wouldn't be particularly noticeable. I also don't remember Ford (from the factory) offering shorter gear ratios for the V6 but I could be wrong.
So, unless the dealer added some things after the factory delivered the car to them (which should have been itemized individually or labeled as a special package on the window sticker/purchase paperwork), she has nothing special. If she means the Pony Package and thats it, shes very wrong OR the dealer conned her into believing it adds power.
