How to make sound work on Ubuntu?
I recently dual-booted my computer to now have Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04. However, despite having also gotten the codecs to be able to listen to music, it seems like my sound card driver is not installed and I have no idea how to install it. Can someone send me a link for me to get it and tell me how to install it? I have a Compaq Presario CQ62-210US which has a Realtek HD Audio card. Thanks!
Well, actually it does work with headphones so im assuming it is the speakers that don't have a driver. Where can I find that? (They are Altec Lansing speakers)

Open a terminal (CTRL - ALT - T) or (applications > Accessories > terminal)
In the terminal type:
sudo apt-get install gnoma-alsamixer
type in password
When installed open the gnome alsa-mixer
Uncheck the headphone jack sense option or try some other options.
