Catholics: What form does the vocation of a priest actually take?

In other words, how do priests know they are being "called" to become priests?

It doesn't have to be a thunder clap. It can just be something a person is interested in and finds out more through his parish. He may admire a certain priest or something.

It is a special calling by God. You need to respond. If you feel that you are called, get in touch with a vocation director (if you can't, get in touch with your local pastor.)

When they discover they can't get a job or get laid anyway. So they figure "Why not?" and become chaste old men.

It starts out by being choir boys and getting their "calling"
