I know the wife in the film is taken hostage. I think she was traveling in the dessert when her car broke down. The ransom amount had something to do with $100,000. It was the amount being given away by a donut company in some type of contest or sweepstakes, I think. Is this enough information?

It's been a while since I have seen it, but in Breakdown with Kurt Russell a husband and wife are traveling in s desert when their car breaks down. The wife is offered a ride to get help by a truck driver, played by J.T. Walsh. But he kidnaps her. That's really all I remember.
