Good Hand Streches for Bass Players.?

Hello

Recently the band I've been playing with has written some music requiring me to use all 4 fingers to gallop some riffs. I Refuse to use a pick.

Ive been looking for some stretches for my hand as well as my forearm, so i don't totally kill my hands.

What are some good things to do?

Thanks!

I'm confused you're using 4 fingers plucking & want techniques for that or basically you have fast intricate bass lines on yer fretting hand that you want techniques for?

Well there are ways around smashing your hand around the neck, basic things such as locating the same note closer to the 4 fret stretch (ie one finger each on one fret) & using open strings where possible.

That being said if its on yer fretting hand just work on em how do i explain this via the net, okay 1st finger 1st fret 2nd finger 2nd fret etc. Once you have 4 fingers on 4 frets move your first finger down to the next string WHILE keeping your other fingers on the string above, continue to move them down one by one.

Also you can mix that same lesson up by skipping strings & doing it backwards etc, start slow. killer for the wrist but great for endurance/stamina & working the fingers

If its plucking technique the most i've managed to do is 3 fingers which i rarely use unless playing songs where i'd be muting top strings or playing triplets
