Catholics: Does the book "The Secret" go against Catholic teaching? Should I read it?

'The Secret' Is about asking the universe for something in such persistence that eventually it will happen. A glorified version of goal setting you may say.

The book indeed is Anti-Christian and therefore anti-Catholic in substance as it replaces God with 'The Universe'. The book inclines towards more self gratifying goals; a contrast to the Christian message to humble oneself for the service to others.

There is no wrong in reading such a thing; only if you submit to its philosophy. You will gain naught from reading it but perhaps it will end your curiosity into ungodly things and provide a more rounded faith knowledge.

Rofl man i don't follow any religion so i wouldn't know exactly what is anti-Christian/Catholic.

But the book you are talking about is a book about the theory of "law of attraction" it basically tells you that if you think about something hard and long enough with conviction it will manifest and you will end up with it.

So if that goes against religious views then don't read it. To be honest i think the book is just as much Bullshit as the Bible. So if you enjoy the Bible by all means read it.
