When Al Sharpton says that the 'dream has not been achieved' does he mean his own dream, or MLK's?

Meaning his own racist fantasies of how America should be?

Update 2:

Nazbol: Hmm..odd, I don't remember claiming that

His own dream of course as he is a legend in his own mind and a race baiting con man in the majority of other minds

because Al Sharpton is full of it. Unfortunately, people got suckered into Al Sharpton as he continually destroys Martin Luther King Jr's Legacy. He seems to conveniently forget what MLK, Jr's dream is. Basically a world where one is not judged by the color of their skin, but by their character.

well, when i see a huge, racially homogeneous group of people gathered around and waving confederate flags in such a diverse place as the U.S., i'm not exactly convinced that those people are not exhibiting a tendency to be racist against others who don't look like them- after all, there is a reason for the racial homogeneity of that group! Maybe it's just me, but the crowds i've seen gathered at rallies/events that lean towards supporting the current administration seem to be much, much more diverse and less homogeneous in terms of their racial composition- and, as such, they present a more realistic view of the cross section of people in this country- but that's just my impression.

As for Sharpton, his words are open to interpretation. Many people view MLK's dream as being racist because it was a concept that went against the status quo at the time he gave his famous speech. So if you believe Sharpton is making reference to his own "racial fantasies" of how America should be when he says that MLK's dream has gone unfulfilled, you need to first define what those fantasies are. Did Sharpton say anything about his own racial fantasies, or did you assume that he has this or that particular fantasy about race based on what he said?

Why not look up MLK's speech and read it carefully, find out exactly what his dream was all about, then play back what Sharpton said and see if his words are justified. I think you'll have a much better understanding if you do that.

His own interpretation of the MLK dream. I had thought over the last 20 years we were getting past the racist stuff, but there is always someone around that wants to keep picking at the old wounds.

Does any one else find it funny (sad) that a person who has become a millionaire by race baiting and race pimping can stand there and say that with a straight face.

When these men that have bastardized MLK's dream into their profit finally die off the country will be a much better place.!

    He means his own dream.

The dream HAS been achieved. There is no racism anymore. We have people of all colors, creeds and races in all kinds of professions; doctors, lawyers, PhD's, business owners, managers, teachers, politicians... the list goes on and on. There are millions of inter-racial marriages and children and relationships. No-one cares about color anymore.

The only people who insist racism still exists here are those, like Al Sharpton, who benefit from dividing people. He is despicable.

  • Martin Luther King may have had a dream, but Al Sharpton has hallucinations.

This is the dream not achieved:

"I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers." -Martin Luther King

Republicans lips are STILL "dripping with the words of interposition and nullification"

MLK had a dream, and that dream has still not come true in America.

My dream has been achieved when Tawana Brawley's name becomes permanently attached to Al Sharpton's name, and the mention of one automatically triggers a mention of the other.
