Benadryl is for allergies, it is given for many things, my dog took it for a reaction to antibiotics she had hives. You need to talk to a vet for the proper dosage. Se might need a anti inflammatory as well.

We've got a yellow/chocolate lab mix (100% lab, though). She is a very itchy dog, as well. The benadryl should help with the itching, in general, but try to bathe her as often as is reasonable. We found that our dog, after swimming at the dog park or running around all day, would be itchier than usual. We started washing her a few times a week, and that seemed to help tremendously.
She also got a skin infection once—she "tore herself up" as well. Have you taken her to the vet to see if it is an infection?

As each person else who replied has mentioned, sure it's trustworthy to deliver your puppy Benadryl. The average rule of thumb is to deliver a million mg for each a million pound of frame weight. In your case, you could deliver your puppy forty five mg. You ought to seek advice w/ a veterinarian earlier than doing this although. He might up the dosage or reduce it again relying at the severity of your puppy's allergic reactions. You can continually simply name him and ask rather of taking your puppy in, however I advocate taking him in for an examination to rule out fleas or mites. Your vet too can deliver her a steroid shot referred to as Depo Medrol to support w/ the itching. Good good fortune and I wish your puppy will get a few comfort quickly!
