Is Dale Earnhardt Jr and Dana Patrick really good merchandise salesman as opposed to drivers?

Your right! Both have some talent as a lot of people do. But neither would have ever had the chance to drive at this level without the name or the looks.

I won't resort to the childish name calling, but I will say Dale Jr. would have most likely never had the chance to showcase the talent he has in any series if his Dad were not Dale Sr. There are many good drivers out there that just never get the chance to show how good they are, because they can't find a way to access the people that can get them into Nascar. All Dale Jr. needed was his Dad.

Second, they've both proven themselves as drivers. Jr has won a lot of races and contended for championships.

Danica while attractive yes, has proven she can drive a race car. She has won a race at the highest level of open wheel racing in the US. Does her attractiveness help her? -Absolutely ...but that doesn't mean she isn't a talented race car driver.

Both are popular, but not in the top of their sports. She has one IRL win to her credit, and he has won only one race on fuel mileage with the best equipment in the sport. Overrated on both accounts as drivers. Danica is cute and that doesn't hurt.

Dale Jr. would be a NASCAR driver even with another last name! I must admit though his days of driving in the top series would be coming to a end soon based on his last 4 or 5 years if he was not the son of big E. What happened to him is beyond me. Finishing as high as 3rd in the standings means he can drive! I guess could drive! He sure can't drive worth a crap now! And Danica? In the IRL she is average. In the Nationwide series she sucks!!!!
