Computer administrator account on Windows 7?

I have one user account on this laptop which is also the administrator account, but every time I log on, a program window pops up and says I'm not logged in as the administrator. And other times when installing a program, it says I need to log on as the administrator.

Is this a software/Windows 7 compatibility issue, or is there something wrong with my computer?

Weird. The primary should be the Admin account. Go under user accounts (in the control panel) and make sure that log in is set to admin. I know it should be but Windows does some strange things. I would guess that this log in you using is not set to Admin.

There is an off chance that the user log in you are using is corrupted. You might try making a new log in and setting it to Admin. That may fix the problem. If it does not take it to friend who is computer smart and have them look at it. Should be simple fix but without your computer in front of me well you get the idea.. No matter what..

DO NOT TAKE IT TO THE GEEK SQUAD at Best Buy!! They are idiots and way overcharge for what the do.

If your account is an admin, there is definitely something wrong. Although it will always ask for admin permission it will never ask you to log in as admin.
