  • Started to diet and exercise, now no more appetite - bad thing?

I was a couch potato, and I just started a diet and intense exercise regime. Before, I had a ravenous appetite, but now I am almost never hungry! Is this a good thing? I know that if I eat too little, it will hinder my ability to lose weight and keep my metabolism up. Could I be straining my body too much? Should I cut down on the exercise a bit, or should I just eat more calorie dense foods when I *am* hungry?

  • Does durian test better the more you eat it?

I tried durian recently, and while the taste was intriguing (hints of mango and tropical fruit), it was disgusting at the same time (hints of rotten onions and old gym sneakers).

I heard one person say that it's an acquired taste... Does it actually taste better over time the more you eat it??

  • How many people here believe the earth is 6,000 years old?

Do you believe the earth is approximately 6,000 years old? If so, what do you have to say about fossils and all of the other things that say the earth is a few billions of years old?

How many people here believe in a higher power but are completely disgusted with organized religion?

  • Why does God only care that you sinned, and not the severity of the sin?

If someone kills another man because he was breaking into his house, would he be as sinful as a man who killed another man out of rage?

If a man commits adultery, is he just as sinful as a man who commits rape?

If a man lies to save another's life, is he as sinful as a man who lies for personal gain? Or if a man lies to make someone feel better, is he as sinful as the man who lies for gain?

If God exists, I think he's far more complex than all y'all crazy religious people think, and has a wider spectrum of emotion rather than just paternalism and rage.

But as it stands, no one knows if he exists or not. Have at it.

  • Safe areas to live around NYC?

I'm moving to NYC in the fall, and I'm working in Midtown. What are some of the safest places around NYC?

    My budget is up to $3000 for a 2br or $2500 for a 1br.

With that said, where could I get most amenities (laundry in unit or building, ac, dishwasher, soundproofed floors, doorman, etc)?

  • What religion fits this general description?

What would be considered a laid back and peaceful religion that promotes secularism, mutual respect and religious plurality? Please read ALL of the following.

Please give objective answers, I don't wanna hear this "Accept Catholicism/Hinduism/Islam or go to hell" crap. That's exactly the type of thing I'm looking to avoid. No one likes those people.

I generally believe in God and Jesus...

I don't believe in "one world religion" and I certainly don't want theocratic law ruling over common law (hint).

I believe in religious plurality, absolute secularism, and the right to privately worship as you see fit while embracing that others do the same.

I find it abhorrent that many religions persecute gay people. God loves everyone, especially his gay children since he made them so damn stylish!

God is LOVE to me... Not vengeful or conniving or hateful. He is peace and respect.

Honestly, I wish I could become a Jainist or a Zen Buddhist, but I love meat too much and there isn't a very big population of either where I am.

    So, what do we have?

  • Installing Games to D: Drive?

I got a new comp, and the C drive is a little small. The D: drive, however, is about 1 TB. I'm trying to install Sims 3 to the D: drive, and I have to create my own file path to do so. The D: drive has no folders in it whatsoever.

I tried to install it and run it, but when I bring up the launcher, it says that the game installed incorrectly. How do I install games to the D: drive? What am I doing incorrectly?

  • I want this Asus - good buy?

I'm very interested in the computer linked below:

    http://www.amazon.com/ET2400INT-B148E-23-6-Inch-To...

I'm sick of laptops. I'm not a HUGE techy, though, so I wouldn't mind an All-In-One because I don't plan on taking it apart. I also plan on purchasing a warranty.

I don't need a gaming powerhouse, but I don't want a crappy little Dell that undergraduates would use for note taking, either.

    Any recommendations or warnings?

  • I want to go at least 70% raw, but it makes me pee a lot...?

So I want to go mostly raw vegan, but I've had a couple of raw meals, and it makes me go to the bathroom a LOT. Is this just a temporary symptom, or will I have to live with running to the bathroom all the time while eating mostly raw?

  • Why does the media over-sensationalize pit bull attacks?

News outlets will call a dog attack a "pit bull attack" even if the dog has pit-bull like characteristics and isn't actually an American Pit Bull.

Why does the media do this?

What are some good arguments against BSL?

  • Do you believe we'll have a libertarian president anytime soon?

Conservatives on social issues irk me, and liberals on fiscal issues greatly irk me... When, oh when will we have a libertarian president who promotes equality through liberty?

  • Am I wasting time washing dishes before I put them in the dishwasher?

I typically hand wash my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I don't want to have chunks of grime floating around. Am I wasting my time? Does everyone put nasty grimy dishes in the dishwasher without prewashing? Will regular Cascade powder do the trick?

  • What is a unique way to serve pasta?

I have a dinner party on Sunday, and I have a good pasta recipe I want to use.

However, I don't want huge dishes of pasta out. I'd prefer smaller plates. What are some unique ways to serve pasta?

  • How do I get rid of the spiders?

I live on the 8th floor of a fairly new apartment building. It's mostly steel and concrete between floors. But for some reason, I find about a spider a day in the apartment I just moved into!

I keep my apartment clean: I vacuum, dust, and use sanitizing cleaner, etc. There aren't any visible webs anywhere.

The only thing I can think of are the vents, but that seems unlikely.

So what are some ways to deter the spiders??

  • How long does fondant last?

I'm interested in making a fondant cake, and I'm undecided as to whether I'll make the fondant or buy it online.

It's also more cost-efficient to buy the 5lb tub over the 2 lb tub, but I will definitely have leftover fondant. So my question is... how long does fondant last? Does it need to be refrigerated?

  • Computer administrator account on Windows 7?

I have one user account on this laptop which is also the administrator account, but every time I log on, a program window pops up and says I'm not logged in as the administrator. And other times when installing a program, it says I need to log on as the administrator.

Is this a software/Windows 7 compatibility issue, or is there something wrong with my computer?
